History

A summary of our (family) history.

SSW Stahl-Service Westhoff GmbH was established by Werner Westhoff in February 1991. The company headquarters was in Arnsberg (Herdringen), Germany.

In May 1997, the company moved to its new administration building at Borkshagenstrasse in the Wiebelsheide industrial estate.

In 2004, SSW Stahl-Service Westhoff GmbH changed its legal form and became a GmbH + Co. KG.

The founder, owner and leader of the company, Werner Westhoff, died at the age of only 48 on 16 November 2005 after a brief, severe illness, and his sons Tobias and Oliver Westhoff became the new owners. F. Peter Schmitz and Tobias Westhoff took over the joint management of the business.

Since October 2006, SSW. Stahl-Service Westhoff GmbH + Co. KG have specialised to an ever-increasing extent in coil-coated material.

F. Peter Schmitz commenced his well-earned retirement on 31 December 2008; Tobias Westhoff became the sole general manager and is today the head of the company.

The range of colours was extended significantly in 2009, offering 100 standard and special colours from stock instead of just 14.

The product portfolio and the variety of colours were extended and modernised between 2012 and 2016. Since 2016 we have eight different products and more than 140 RAL colours available in our inventory range.

In 2016 we increased our operations with a new 5000 m² machine shop in Ense-Höingen to enable us to react to customer preferences even quicker. A new and highly modern machine park was added at the same time.

Oliver Westhoff took charge of technical business management at the end of 2016, and Volker Spähr gained full power of attorney at the turn of the year 2017/2018.

At the beginning of 2018, the switch was made from a single shift to a two-shift operation.

In 2019, SSW Stahl-Service Westhoff GmbH + Co. KG changed its legal form and became a GmbH and started with a three-shift operation.

Our company headquarters were located in Arnsberg-Herdringen for 30 years. In 2021 we decided to move to Ense-Höingen to be closer to our new production hall.
